I started this little blog 3 years ago today. By chance yesterday I saw another blogger had her 1 year birthday and I thought I’d check when I posted my first time. I knew it was around July/August time, but couldn’t for the life of me remember when it was. Perfect timing as 1st July 2013 I posted for the first time.
I had no idea where Desserts and Decoupage would take me. Blogging casually for the first 2 years to now where I try to post at least 3 times a week; I never thought I could be where I am now with the traffic I am now getting.
Who knew my writing, recipes, and general mumblings would be of interest to a few thousand people every month!
It started as a place to practice my writing to help me get my first content writing role. It worked as 9 months later I was hired as a writer and now I’m a PR Manager at a national holiday firm.
Did I think I’d carry on after a few months? Probably not. I had started free blogs before and it normally just ended with me preferring posting to social media than writing long blog posts (hence why my first few posts were on the shorter side!). Now I couldn’t imagine not being grouped under the label ‘Blogger’. It’s part of my life, it’s my hobby, and I love what I do. Yes it take ages, I suck at taking photos, and my content is usually a load of gibberish. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.
So 3 years on and all I can say is thank you to each and every single person who reads my blog and happy birthday to me! sings really badly at the top of my voice.
I’m trying harder to network, comment, share, and engage with others now I’m more established. The day I meet one of you love readers is the day my blogging confidence will hit its max. For now, I am happy knowing there are a large number of people out there who know who I am. That’ll do. That’ll do.
