Yesterday you may have read my blog about how I’m freaking out about turning 29. Well today I start my Couch to 10k challenge, but as I’m so much more unfit than ‘Couch’ I’ve decided I need to start from ‘Bed’ level. That just about sums up where my fitness is currently. I even walked to work for the first time in a while this morning and had an asthma attack on my way in….I live less than 1/2 a mile from door to door hangs head in fitness shame.
So day one and I have new trainers ready to go and a whole new outfit. I say new, but actually I bought the clothes over a year ago and they’ve sat in my drawer gathering dust waiting for the big day when they get to see the light of day. Today is that day.
Tonight my Couch to 10k app is telling me I’ll be doing a 5 min brisk walk followed by alternating 60 seconds of jogging with 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes. With a cool down walk at the end. That’s already filling me with dread – but I’m motivated and moving so I will be running this 10 in 18 weeks time.
I will update on my progress as the week’s go on, if anything it will give me a push to get off my bum if I know I have to tell you all about it. (shout out below if you’re reading as if I know real people are out there I’m more likely to stick with it!!).
