Healthy Snack Ideas With A Difference That You’re Sure To Love

If you follow my blog, then you’ll know that I like to eat healthily. I used to think that healthy meant boring but actually that’s not the case. Well, at least, it doesn’t have to be. If you’re smart about what you eat, being healthy doesn’t have to be dull. In fact, it can be a lot more exciting than eating unhealthy, processed foods.

In case you’re struggling to come up with healthy snack ideas that are tasty and filling, I thought I would share some suggestions. Hopefully, these ideas will show you that healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring.

Do more with fruit

When it comes to fruit, what you see doesn’t have to be what you get. There’s a lot that you can do with fruit to make it more enjoyable to eat. You could freeze it and then blend it into smoothies with nut milk for a healthy, filling snack. Or, you could top it with natural honey and bake it in the oven for a sweet but healthy snack. For a healthy alternative to ice cream, blend up some berries, swirl them into Greek yogurt and then freeze it, to make healthy homemade froyo.

Nuts and seeds are a great snack as they’re packed with protein. Protein is incredibly filling, so for a healthy snack mixed nuts and seeds are a great option. Of course, plain nuts and seeds can be a little dull, so why not jazz them up a little? There are plenty of companies that offer flavoured ranges, like chilli snacks that are made up of mixed nuts and chilli flavouring. Or, if you don’t want to buy them, you could always make them yourself. You can add honey, spices, salt and pepper – basically, any flavours you want to.

Top rice cakes with deliciousness

Rice cakes might be a little dull on their own but if you top them with delicious flavours they come into their own. Peanut butter and sliced banana is a great topper, as it’s packed full of protein so is very filling. Cream cheese and smoked salmon is tasty and healthy. Cream cheese, ham, and cheddar is another delicious combination. Pesto and sliced mozzarella also works well – mozzarella is one of the lowest in fat cheeses.

Being healthy doesn’t mean having to cut out your favourite sweet treats, despite what you might have heard. Whatever your favourite cake is, be it chocolate cake or lemon drizzle, you can still have it while being healthy. All you need to do is revamp the recipe a little to make it as healthy as possible. There are plenty of ideas online for healthy cakes, or you can experiment and make your own. The most important thing is to find fat alternatives – instead of butter use mashed banana, and sugar alternatives. For this, honey is a great option.

I told you that being healthy didn’t have to be boring, it’s just a case of thinking outside the box. Get creative with healthy foods and you can make them taste great.
